Why replace the gas lift?
If the seat sinks slowly under you, or will not rise at all, the gas lift cylinder has failed. It is a replaceable part rather than a repairable one, and the rest of the chair is usually fine.
The other reason is a new desk. Each length gives a fixed seat-height range, so moving to a sit-stand desk often means fitting a longer cylinder to reach a comfortable perching height.
Fitting
A five-minute job
The old cylinder is a tight tapered fit in the seat mechanism, and it tightens with years of use. The HÅG gas lift unblocking tool is what releases it, so add it to your order unless you already have one.

Yes. The three lengths are three different cylinders rather than settings, so changing range means fitting the longer cylinder. It is the same job as replacing a failed one.

No. The HÅG Capisco footring needs a 200 mm or 265 mm lift. On a 150 mm lift, the HÅG StepUp is the foot support that fits.
Flokk's HÅG warranty covers material and manufacturing faults, including any necessary spare parts, and excludes labour, transport and normal wear and tear. So a faulty cylinder is a warranty question, and a worn one is a purchase. Ring us on 02 9640 0642 and we will tell you which yours is. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are separate and are not limited by it.
