    Ergotron buying guide

Ergotron was founded in 1982 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and its arms use its patented Constant Force™ lift, a spring mechanism that keeps the effort to move a screen small and even through the range. We list the HX, its heavy-duty arm, and the LX Pro, the aluminium successor to the LX, on desks and walls.

How to choose the right Ergotron arm

Start with the weight of your screen without its stand, from the maker's specification sheet. For one or two everyday screens, the LX Pro takes 1.8 to 10 kg on the single (up to 34 inches) and up to 9 kg each on the side-by-side dual. The HX is for heavy screens: 9.1 to 19.1 kg and up to 49 inches on the single, or two 32-inch screens of up to 7.9 kg on the dual's hinged bow.

Very wide, deep curved screens over 12.7 kg need Ergotron's HX Heavy-Duty Tilt Pivot. With no desk to clamp to, the LX Pro Wall Arm and the Wall Mount System fix to the wall. Our desk compatibility checklist covers the rest.

    Monitor arms and sit-stand desks

A monitor arm pairs well with a sit-stand desk: you can reset the screen height each time you change from sitting to standing, and Constant Force™ lift makes that a one-hand job.

    Frequently asked questions

    Who makes Ergotron monitor arms?

Ergotron, Inc., founded in 1982 and headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. It makes monitor arms, sit-stand products and mounting systems sold in more than 70 countries.

    What is Constant Force technology?

Ergotron's patented spring lift mechanism. It balances the screen so the effort to lift, lower or tilt it stays small and even through the whole range of movement. It is a spring mechanism, not a gas strut.

    HX or LX Pro?

The LX Pro suits everyday screens, 1.8 to 10 kg and up to 34 inches. The HX is for heavy screens, 9.1 to 19.1 kg and up to 49 inches, or a pair of 32-inch screens on the HX Dual.

What warranty comes with Ergotron arms?

Ergotron's warranty terms give a 10-year warranty on all HX products and LX monitor arms, and the LX Pro specification sheets state 10 years. Claims are handled by Chair Dinkum in Sydney on 02 9640 0642; full terms are on our warranty page. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law for faulty or damaged goods are separate and are not limited by it.

    Will it fit my desk?

The LX Pro Desk Arm's two-piece clamp covers desks up to 60 mm thick in three settings, and the HX Dual's clamp takes desks up to 66 mm; the HX arms also include a grommet mount. Work through our desk compatibility checklist before you order.

Can I see Ergotron arms before I buy?

Call 02 9640 0642 to check which arms are on display at our Pyrmont showroom, 1/209 Harris Street, before you visit. We can also check your screens and desk over the phone.
