Frequently asked questions
How does the self-adjusting mechanism work?
Humanscale chairs use a weight-sensitive recline mechanism. As you lean back, the chair automatically provides the right amount of resistance based on your body weight. There is no tension knob to adjust. You simply sit down and the chair adapts. This means multiple people can use the same chair without needing to change any settings.
What is the difference between Freedom and Liberty?
The Freedom has a more structured, supportive feel with a contoured backrest and optional headrest. It suits people who want firm support. The Liberty uses a flexible mesh back that conforms to your spine shape, offering a lighter, more breathable feel. Both self-adjust to your weight.
Do Humanscale monitor arms work with Apple displays?
Apple Studio Displays and Pro Display XDR require a VESA mount adapter (sold separately by Apple). Once the adapter is fitted, they work perfectly with both the M2.1 and M8.1 arms. The M8.1 is recommended for the Pro Display XDR due to its higher weight.
