    HAT Collective buying guide

    HAT Collective is the brand of Human Active Technology, based in Easton, Pennsylvania. It began in 1986 as Innovative Office Products and makes monitor arms, height-adjustable workstations and power for offices. We list two of its arm families: the E2, which HAT describes as the next generation of its Envoy arm, and the E5 system launched in 2024.

    How to choose the right HAT Collective arm

    Start with the weight of your screen without its stand, from the maker's specification sheet. Everyday screens of 1 to 9 kg suit the E2: the single takes up to 32 inches, the dual two screens up to 27 inches. Heavier or larger screens need the E5: the Single Dynamic takes 2.3 to 20.4 kg and up to 49 inches, the Dual Dynamic up to 11.3 kg per screen.

    Then decide how the screens should move. Dynamic arms float on springs and move through the day; the crossbar moves two screens together; the static poles fix screens at a height, for stacked and four-screen walls. Every arm here mounts from above with a clamp or grommet, both included, on desks up to 38 mm thick. Our desk compatibility checklist covers the rest.

    Monitor arms and sit-stand desks

    A monitor arm pairs well with a sit-stand desk: you can reset the screen height each time you change from sitting to standing. The E5 Dual Crossbar's handle moves both screens in one go.

    Who makes HAT Collective monitor arms?

    HAT Collective is the brand of Human Active Technology, LLC, of Easton, Pennsylvania, which began in 1986 as Innovative Office Products. It makes monitor arms, height-adjustable workstations, power and accessories.

    What is the difference between the E2 and the E5?

    The E2 is HAT's everyday spring arm for screens of 1 to 9 kg, with a 10-year warranty. The E5 is its newer system, launched in 2024: heavier ratings (to 20.4 kg on the Single Dynamic), quick-disconnect VESA plates, external rotation stops, a one-tool top-down mount and a 15-year warranty.

    Will it fit my desk?

    Every HAT arm we list mounts from above with a C-clamp or through a grommet hole, both included, on worktops up to 38 mm thick. E5 grommet holes need to be at least 57 mm across. Work through our desk compatibility checklist before you order.

    What warranty comes with HAT Collective arms?

    HAT Collective's published warranty covers E2 monitor arms for 10 years and E5 products for 15 years, under normal use of a 40-hour, five-day week. Claims are handled by Chair Dinkum in Sydney on 02 9640 0642; full terms are on our warranty page. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law for faulty or damaged goods are separate and are not limited by it.

    Can I run three or four screens?

    Yes. The E5 Two-Over-Two static pole carries four screens of up to 27 inches and 6.8 kg each. For two stacked screens, the One-Over-One takes up to 13.6 kg each.
