Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a task chair and an executive chair?
Traditionally, task chairs prioritize ergonomic function and adjustability for long hours of desk work, while executive chairs prioritize a premium, imposing aesthetic (often with high backs and premium materials). At Chair Dinkum, our executive range merges these two categories: offering the high-end finishes expected in a boardroom or executive office, but with the advanced ergonomic mechanisms of a premium task chair.
Are high-back chairs better for your back?
Not necessarily. A high back provides a place to rest your head and shoulders when reclining or taking a break, which is great for relaxation or reading. However, for active desk work, the most critical support is in the lower back (lumbar) and mid-back regions. A well-designed mid-back chair with excellent lumbar support is far better for your spine than a poorly designed high-back chair.
Why do you recommend mesh or high-performance fabrics over traditional leather?
While leather looks classic, it is not breathable. During long hours of work, especially in the Australian climate, leather can cause heat buildup and discomfort. Premium mesh (like Herman Miller's Pellicle) or advanced Scandinavian fabrics (like those used by RH and HÅG) offer superior breathability, weight distribution, and long-term durability without the maintenance requirements of leather.
Can these chairs be used for 8+ hours a day?
Yes. Unlike traditional 'style-first' executive chairs, every chair in our executive collection is built upon a high-performance ergonomic chassis. They are fully rated for 8+ hours of intensive daily use, providing the necessary lumbar support and movement to prevent fatigue.
