The Humanscale Sedeo is a bar stool designed by Don Chadwick, with a contoured seat shell shaped around support for the base of the spine, a die-cast aluminium frame, solid wood legs and a stainless steel foot ring. We have it at bar height in two finishes, maple with a polished frame and white seat, or black-stained oak with a black frame and black seat, in limited clearance quantities.

Why the Humanscale Sedeo

Shaped for Sitting Longer

The seat shell follows the body's contours, increasing contact area to reduce pressure points.

Ships Assembled

It arrives ready to use. At 5.76 kg it is easy to move between bench, bar and meeting table.

15-Year Warranty

Humanscale's 15-year warranty on components and parts, with the solid wood legs covered for 5 years.

The Seat

A Stool You Can Actually Sit On

Most bar stools are a flat disc. The Sedeo's seat shell is contoured to match the body, which Humanscale says increases the contact area and reduces pressure points, and its shape is based on support for the sacrum, the base of the spine, to encourage better posture.

That is what makes it a stool for staying put: a long breakfast at the kitchen bench, a stand-up meeting that turns into a sit-down one, or an afternoon at a café-style bar in the office.

The Designer

Designed by Don Chadwick

The Sedeo is a Don Chadwick design for Humanscale, launched in 2024. It is deliberately simple: a sculpted shell, a cast frame and four splayed legs, with nothing that needs adjusting.

This photo shows three of Humanscale's finishes. We have two of them: the maple legs with a polished frame and white seat in the centre, and the all-black stool with black-stained oak legs on the left.

Materials

Cast Aluminium, Solid Wood, Stainless Steel

The frame is die-cast aluminium, which Humanscale says carries 94% recycled content. The legs are solid wood, which Humanscale sources from local sustainable farms, and the foot ring is stainless steel. Humanscale builds it to endure well over a decade of heavy use, and lists it as BIFMA LEVEL 3 and SCS Indoor Advantage Gold.

It weighs 5.76 kg, light enough to carry one-handed, as here. The stool in this photo has maple legs and a black seat, a combination we do not have in this clearance.

Configuration

Bar Height, in Two Finishes

Our clearance stock is the bar-height Sedeo, with a 737 mm seat height and 885 mm overall height, on floor glides. Choose maple legs with a polished aluminium frame and foot ring and a white seat, or black-stained oak legs with a black frame and black seat.

Bar height suits a bar-height bench or table. Measure from the floor to the underside of your benchtop before you order; a common rule of thumb is to leave 25 to 30 cm between the seat and the top. Humanscale also makes a counter-height version with a 647 mm seat, which is not part of this clearance.

Where It Works

Kitchen, Office, Café

Humanscale designed the Sedeo for commercial, residential and hospitality spaces alike. In an office it suits breakout benches, huddle tables and tea points; at home it gives a kitchen island a stool people will happily sit on for longer.

The stools in this photo have black-stained oak legs with a polished frame, a Humanscale finish close to our all-black option, which has a black frame instead.

Why We Stock the Humanscale Sedeo

Good bar stools are rare: most are either comfortable or good-looking. The Sedeo is both, and it carries the same 15-year Humanscale warranty as the task chairs we sell. We picked up a limited run in two finishes and have priced it to clear.
