Leaving Levers in the Past
The Mentor is Buro's chair without levers: its Dynamic Intelligence mechanism responds to your weight and to the way you move, synchronising the seat and back so the chair supports active sitting without anyone reaching underneath to set it. A sleek mesh back with a natural curve carries an adjustable lumbar, the seat slides for depth, and a four-position lock holds the back where you want it.
Buro rates it to 140 kg for 8 hours a day and pitches it at home offices and shared spaces where the chair has to suit everybody. Choose the black nylon base or the polished aluminium base, with or without arms.
The Numbers
Buro's figures, the same on both bases: 635 mm wide, 640 mm deep and 1020 mm high overall; seat height 475 to 595 mm; seat 515 mm wide and 430 to 480 mm deep on the slide; back 575 mm high and 485 mm wide; 60 mm soft polyurethane castors; carton 36 by 71 by 66 cm at 17.2 kg. No headrest.
Buro lists AFRDI Green Tick Level B Gold, GREENGUARD Gold, FSC 100% certified wood and the APA program, and an AFRDI 142 rated load of 135 kg single shift.

Five Things That Make It a Buro Mentor
The mesh back, the mechanism, the optional arms, the tilt lock and the two bases.

Mesh Back, Adjustable Lumbar
A sleek mesh back with a natural curve carries an adjustable lumbar, 575 mm high and 485 mm wide. There is no headrest.

No Levers
Buro's Dynamic Intelligence mechanism reads your weight and lets the seat and back move together as you do, so there is no tension knob and nothing to reach underneath and set.

Arms Are Optional
Buro sells the chair with or without height and width adjustable arms. Arms help if you rest your forearms while typing or push up out of the chair; leave them off if it has to roll under a low desk.

Tilt Lock and Seat Slide
A four-position lock holds the back where you want it, and the seat slides for depth from 430 to 480 mm. Seat height runs 475 to 595 mm.

Nylon or Aluminium Base
Choose the black nylon base or the polished aluminium base; the chair, its figures and its 60 mm soft polyurethane castors are the same on both.

Figures are Buro Seating's, from its product pages and specification sheet. The figures are identical for the two bases. The photography is Buro's, of the nylon-base and aluminium-base Mentor.
Choosing Your Mentor
Choose the base and the arms. The black nylon base is Buro code 132-M3 (132A-M3 with height and width adjustable arms). The polished aluminium base is the same chair, which Buro lists as 132-C-M3 and supplies as the 132-M3 with its 107-2 polished aluminium base kit. Every variant has a black fabric seat and black mesh back; Buro also photographs the aluminium-base chair with a SafeTex charcoal seat, which we can order on 02 9640 0642.
For a lever-operated synchro mechanism instead, see the Buro Quantum ergonomic office chair or the Buro Axon office chair. For multi-shift desks, see the Buro Metro II 24/7 chair.
Why We Chose Buro
Buro Seating was founded in Auckland in 1994 and has been part of ACCO Brands since 1 March 2025. It publishes a specification sheet, an ergonomic assessment, line drawings and AFRDI certificates for each chair.
We sell Buro because the specifications are published and the chairs are tested to AFRDI standards. As an authorised Buro dealer we quote anything from one chair to a whole floor; see our commercial fit-outs or call 02 9640 0642, and try the chairs by appointment at our Pyrmont showroom.

All figures are Buro Seating's, from the product page and specification sheet linked above; where the page and the sheet differ we say so. Buro's guarantee page lists a lifetime gas-lift guarantee for the Roma, Verve, Metro, Metro II, Persona and Everest, not the Mentor, so none is claimed here. A BIFMA badge appears on Buro's aluminium-base page without text, so BIFMA is not claimed. Dimensions are identical for the two bases. Buro does not publish the unboxed chair weight for this model unless stated. Guarantee terms are on Buro's guarantee page and our warranty page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Buro's name for a weight-activated mechanism: instead of a tension knob and tilt levers, the mechanism reads your weight and lets the seat and back move together as you do. There is a four-position lock for the back tilt and a seat slide; Buro publishes an operational video on its page.
Buro pitches it at home offices and shared desks where several people sit in the same chair and nobody adjusts it; it suits users within the 140 kg rating who want a light, self-adjusting chair. For heavier users or 24/7 use, see the Metro II 24/7 or the Persona 24/7; our guide to office chair weight ratings explains the numbers.
Buro sells the chair with or without height and width adjustable arms; choose in the picker. Arms help if you rest your forearms while typing or push up out of the chair; leave them off if the chair has to roll under a low desk or you sit side-on to the screen.
The chair, its dimensions, rating and guarantee are the same on both. The black nylon base is Buro's standard; the polished aluminium base is the brighter, more formal finish. Both run 60 mm soft polyurethane castors. Assembly is the same either way: the castors press into the base, the gas lift drops into the base, and the seat and back assembly sits on the gas lift.
Buro guarantees the chair against faulty manufacture for the term in the Warranty tab, to the original purchaser, excluding upholstery and fair wear and tear. Claims come to Chair Dinkum on 02 9640 0642 and we lodge them with Buro. Full terms are on Buro's guarantee page and our warranty page, and your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition.
