The HÅG SoFi Mesh is the chair we sell most of and write about least. There are 253 of them in Sydney as this goes up, it is the cheapest genuine HÅG task chair on the site at $750, and until today it had no dedicated page on this blog. That is our fault, not the chair's.
This is a specification review. Every dimension below is traced to a Flokk document, and where Flokk publishes nothing we say so rather than filling the gap. That includes one figure a lot of retailers quote for this chair which Flokk has never published at all.
It also flags where Flokk's own documents disagree with each other, because on this chair they do. None of it changes whether the SoFi suits you, but if you are specifying against a drawing you should know which sheet you are reading.
What the SoFi Mesh actually is
The SoFi is a conventional task chair: upholstered seat, backrest that sits behind you, five-star aluminium base. The mesh model is the one with a transparent back instead of a padded one. In Flokk's SoFi collection the mesh model is the 7500; the 7200 and 7300 are the fully upholstered versions.
It was designed by Frost Produkt AS and Powerdesign AS with the Flokk Design Team. Flokk describes the mesh as a warp knitted heavy duty mesh, using an innovative yarn construction, and states that the mesh fabric is 100% polyester and has certificate for Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
Mechanically it runs HÅG's inBalance tilt, the same centre-tilt idea used across the HÅG range. The seat and back move together around a pivot roughly under your body rather than hinging at the back edge, so leaning back does not shove the seat front up into your thighs. If you have never sat in a HÅG, that is the thing you notice in the first minute.
One practical note before the numbers. Flokk builds the SoFi on either a 165 mm or a 200 mm gas lift, and they give you meaningfully different seat heights. The published specifications
These come from Flokk's 2025 HÅG SoFi Collection factsheet, which prints its measurement table in centimetres. Conversions to millimetres are ours.

Flokk's prose describes the same tilt differently: tilt range is 20° forwards and 14° backwards from a neutral position 4° to the rear. That sentence appears word for word in both the 2019 and the 2025 factsheets, so it is the wording we trust for how the chair behaves, while the table above is the measured range from level.
Note that the SoFi tips further forward than it leans back. That is deliberate and it is the HÅG idea in one number: the chair is built to follow you when you come forward to work, not just to recline.
Three figures are printed on Flokk's older October 2019 factsheet and dropped from the 2025 one. We list them separately rather than mixing them in, because we cannot confirm they still describe current production:
- Height of backpads: 720 mm
- Armrest height: 185–300 mm
- Overall chair width: 600–715 mm
The same 2019 document also gives the seat height on the 165 mm lift as 395–545 mm, five millimetres either side of the 2025 figure, and gives the chair weight as 17.0 kg without armrests with a total packed weight of 22.8 kg with armrests. We have asked Flokk which set is current. Until they answer, the 2025 factsheet is what we quote, and a 5 mm difference is not going to decide a purchase.
Environment and certification
Flokk publishes per-model environmental figures rather than range-wide claims, which is what tender documents usually want. For the 7500 specifically:

Note that the 2019 factsheet gave 41% recycled and 96% recyclable for the same model. The numbers moved in both directions, which is what you would expect from a real re-measurement rather than a marketing round-up. Use the 2025 pair.
Certifications listed on the 2025 factsheet: EN 1335 Class A, ANSI BIFMA X5.1, GS mark, NPR 1813, Swedish Möbelfakta, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, an Environmental Product Declaration to ISO 14025, GREENGUARD, the European Ecolabel and Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
EN 1335 Class A is worth pausing on. The standard grades office chairs A, B or C by how much adjustment they carry, A being the most. The SoFi is Class A. Not every HÅG is, as the comparison below shows.
Flokk does not state where the SoFi is made. We are not going to guess. The Capisco is documented as built at Røros in Norway; the SoFi carries no such statement in any Flokk document we have.
The figure nobody publishes: maximum user weight
Flokk publishes no maximum user weight for the HÅG SoFi. Not in the 2019 factsheet, not in the 2025 factsheet, not on the collection page.
The 110 kg figure that circulates for HÅG chairs is a condition of the ten-year guarantee, not a tested load rating. Those are different measurements answering different questions, and treating one as the other is how a buyer ends up specifying the wrong chair for a heavy-duty role.

SoFi Mesh or Tion 2340 Mesh
This is the decision most people are actually making, because both are mesh-backed HÅG task chairs, both are in stock, and they are close in price. Our HÅG Tion buying guide compares the Tions with each other; this compares the mesh Tion with the SoFi.

Three differences decide it.
Seat depth. The SoFi adjusts through 80 mm. The Tion does not adjust at all. If you are short in the thigh, or tall enough that a 44 cm pad leaves you perched, that single line is worth more than everything else in the table. It is also why the SoFi carries EN 1335 Class A and the Tion is Type B.
Tilt. The SoFi tips further in both directions and has a steeper backrest. It is the more reclining chair. The Tion is tauter and more upright.
Weight. The Tion is 12.0 kg and the SoFi is 16.7 kg. Nearly five kilograms is a lot on a chair you might drag between rooms, and it is the one complaint we hear repeated about the SoFi. If your office reconfigures constantly, or the chair lives in a home that gets rearranged, the Tion is easier to live with.
Where the SoFi sits against the Capisco
People ask this constantly, and it is not really a comparison. The HÅG Capisco 8106 is a saddle chair for people who work over something — a bench, a patient, an instrument, a monitor pushed close. You sit forward, backwards or astride it. It starts at $1,858.

The short version: if the Capisco appeals to you, buy the Capisco. Nobody has ever cross-shopped these two and been happy with the wrong one. The SoFi is not a cheap Capisco, it is a different job.
It suits you if
- You sit at a desk six or more hours a day and want breathability without paying mesh-chair prices.
- Your thigh length is not average in either direction. The 380–460 mm seat depth adjustment is the SoFi's best feature and most of its competition at this price has none.
- You want a genuine HÅG with the full ten-year Flokk guarantee and locally held spare parts, at the bottom of the range rather than the top.
- You are fitting out a room and want one chair that suits most bodies without a fitting appointment per person.
- You want documented environmental figures for a green building submission. Flokk publishes them per model.
It does not suit you if
- You move your chair often. At 16.7 kg it is heavy for its class and heavier than the Tion by nearly five kilograms.
- You want an all-mesh chair. The SoFi's seat is upholstered; only the back is mesh. If you run hot through the seat, this is not the answer.
- You need a certified user weight in writing today. Flokk publishes none for this chair, and we are not going to invent one for you.
- You want to sit at a standing desk. Even on the 200 mm lift the seat tops out at 640 mm. A standing-height perch needs the 265 mm lift available on the Capisco range, which the SoFi does not offer.
- You work over a bench, a patient or an instrument. Buy a saddle chair.
- You want the widest possible colour choice. We hold black and light grey mesh. Flokk's configurator offers more; a special order takes time.

All six configurations are on the SoFi Mesh listing. The two silver-metal options are not held in Sydney and come in on order, so ring first if you need them quickly.
The armrests are worth the $200 for most desk workers. They are the SlideBack type, which pull back out of the way so you can get closer to the desk, and if you have ever fought a fixed armrest against a desk edge you will know why that exists. Skip them if the chair is going under a keyboard tray, or into a meeting room where chairs need to tuck in.
Warranty, parts and the rest of the desk
Flokk provides a ten-year guarantee against production defects on HÅG office chairs in normal use for up to nine hours per day. Beyond nine hours a day the term drops to five years. Fabrics and leather are five years. Normal wear and tear is excluded, and so are labour and transport. It is not an all parts and labour warranty and we will not describe it as one. Chair Dinkum is the exclusive Australian distributor for the Flokk group, so warranty assessment happens in Sydney rather than being routed offshore, and spare parts are held locally. On the rest of the desk: with the seat between 390 and 540 mm on the standard lift, the SoFi suits a conventional 720–750 mm desk without a footrest for most people. If you are under about 160 cm you will want the seat low and your feet flat, and a footrest is a better answer than dropping the desk. Browse the rest of the range in task chairs.
Our recommendation
At $750 the SoFi Mesh is the best value in the HÅG range and the chair we would put in front of most people fitting out an office on a budget that still has to last ten years. The adjustable seat depth is the reason. Almost nothing else at this price adjusts there, and it is the adjustment that decides whether a chair fits a body or merely holds it.
Buy the Tion 2340 Mesh instead if the chair will be moved often, if you prefer a firmer and more upright seat, or if the extra money buys you a colour combination you actually want to look at.
Buy neither if you work over a bench or a patient — that is a saddle chair job — or if you need a chair rated in writing for a heavy user, because HÅG does not publish that figure and no amount of wanting it makes it exist.
