The Control-Room Chair
The Controller is the KAB chair for surveillance rooms, dispatch desks and emergency-services call centres: a 24/7 continuous-use chair, in KAB's words, with a contoured ergonomic headrest, 30-degree tilt-adjustable armrests, a heavy-duty mechanism with 16 degrees of tilt rocker and 27 degrees of backrest recline, an inflatable lumbar pump, a 100 mm gas riser and a premium foam package formulated for extended use. It is AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg for multi-shift use; KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg.
The trim is KAB's breathable leather and cloth combination, which KAB chose for durability and comfort over 24 hours: leather on the wear panels, cloth where you sit against it.
The Numbers on the Drawing
Read from KAB Australia's leaflet drawing (its figures are unlabelled, so confirm with us before specifying): 642 mm overall width, 480 mm seat width, 604 mm depth, 1109 mm overall height with the seat at 552 mm, a 206 mm headrest, and backrest callouts of 236 and 223 mm. The armrests tilt 15 degrees each way, the rocker runs 18 degrees back and 9 forward, and the seat tilts through 11.6 and 4.4 degrees.
At 642 mm it is 12 mm narrower than the Executive and its seat is 22 mm narrower, which is what lets it fit between console returns.

This Listing
This listing is the Controller as KAB Australia photographs it: half leather, half cloth trim, ergonomic headrest, tilt-adjustable armrests, 100 mm gas riser and black five-star base on twin-wheel castors. KAB does not publish trim codes, alternative gas lifts or castor options for the Australian chair; call 02 9640 0642 and we will ask.
The Controller Base is the same chair without armrests in a fabric trim; the Executive is the wider chair.
Why We Sell It
KAB Seating Pty Ltd is the Australian subsidiary of KAB Seating, the Northampton suspension-seat maker whose lineage runs back to Bostrom Seating in 1935; KAB Seating Ltd was formed in 1984 and has been part of Commercial Vehicle Group since 2001. The Australian company, based at Park Ridge in Queensland, has more than three decades of experience and holds ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Its office chairs are built the way its truck and mining seats are: for people who sit in them for whole shifts.
We sell KAB because control rooms, dispatch desks and 24-hour operations ask for a chair built for shift work, and KAB's range is AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg in multiple-shift operation, with AS/NZS 4438 Level 6; KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg. Chair Dinkum is an authorised KAB Seating dealer. Call 02 9640 0642 for a control-room quote.

Furntech-AFRDI — certified products list (Blue Tick)Link →Dimensions
All figures are KAB Seating Australia's, from the leaflet and quality-control page; the dimensions are read from the leaflet drawing, whose figures are unlabelled, so confirm with us before specifying. The Furntech-AFRDI Blue Tick list (September 2026) records certificate 17670/2 (Controller/Controller Base): AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg in multiple-shift operation, with AS/NZS 4438 Level 6, valid to 2 December 2027. KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg; the two figures measure different things. KAB does not publish the chair's weight, base material, gas-lift options, trim names or carton size; the leaflet does not list a seat slide. Warranty terms are on KAB's quality-control page and our warranty page; ask us to confirm KAB's terms for 24-hour use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Width. On KAB's leaflet drawings the Controller is 642 mm overall with a 480 mm seat against the Executive's 654 and 502 mm, so it fits a console position; the headrest is KAB's contoured Controller headrest. The mechanism, lumbar pump and armrests are the same.
No. KAB's leaflet lists no seat slide for the Controller and its global page shows cushion depth and tilt as fixed. The Director II has the seat slide.
KAB describes it as a genuine 24/7 continuous-use office chair and builds it with a premium foam package formulated for extended use. It is AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg in multiple-shift operation (certificate 17670/2, valid to 2 December 2027). On warranty, KAB Australia publishes 5 years on the frame and 2 years on components, and KAB's UK information for its 24-hour chairs specifies 2 years in a 24-hour environment, so ask us to confirm KAB's terms for your roster before you order.
AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg (multi-shift), with AS/NZS 4438 Level 6: the Furntech-AFRDI Blue Tick list records certificate 17670/2 (Controller/Controller Base), valid to 2 December 2027. KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg. The two measure different things, so we show both. Ask us if a tender needs the certificate.
KAB Australia photographs the chair in the trim shown and does not publish trim names or codes on its site; we sell the trim pictured and can ask KAB about alternatives on 02 9640 0642.
KAB Seating Australia publishes a 5-year frame warranty and a 2-year manufacturer's warranty on office-seat components. KAB's published product information for its 24-hour chairs (UK range) specifies a 2-year warranty where the chair is used in a 24-hour environment, so ask us to confirm KAB's terms for your roster before you order. Claims come to Chair Dinkum on 02 9640 0642 and we lodge them with KAB in Queensland. Full terms are on KAB's quality-control page and our warranty page, and your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition.
