The Controller, Stripped Back
The Controller Base is KAB Australia's entry-level chair: the Controller's frame, ergonomic headrest, heavy-duty mechanism with 16 degrees of tilt rocker and 27 degrees of backrest recline, inflatable lumbar pump and 100 mm gas riser, without the armrests and in a plain fabric trim. It shares the Controller's AFRDI certificate, 17670/2: AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg for multi-shift use, with AS/NZS 4438 Level 6. KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg.
No armrests is the point for a lot of consoles: the chair rolls under a desk return and turns between screens without catching.
The Numbers on the Drawing
Read from KAB Australia's leaflet drawing (its figures are unlabelled, so confirm with us before specifying): 480 mm seat width, 604 mm depth, 1109 mm overall height with the seat at 552 mm, a 206 mm headrest and a 223 mm backrest callout; the same seat and back as the Controller. The Controller Base leaflet lists no armrests and no premium foam package; those are on the Controller.
The Details
Five Things That Make It a Controller Base
The headrest, the fabric trim, the mechanism, the gas riser and the side lever, with KAB Seating Australia's figures from its leaflet; the drawing dimensions are unlabelled, so confirm with us before specifying.

The Ergonomic Headrest
The Controller's height-adjustable ergonomic headrest, 206 mm on KAB's leaflet drawing.

Black Fabric Trim
Plain black fabric trim as KAB Australia photographs it; KAB's file name calls it T4, and the drawing gives a 223 mm backrest callout.

The Heavy-Duty Mechanism
The Controller's mechanism: 16° of tilt rocker with rocker tension adjustment, and 27° of adjustable backrest recline.

The 100 mm Gas Riser
A 100 mm gas riser sets the seat height, 552 mm on the drawing, over a black five-star base on twin-wheel castors.

The Side Lever, No Armrests
KAB builds this one without armrests, so it rolls under a desk return and turns between screens without catching; an inflatable hand pump sets the lower lumbar support.

Why We Sell It
KAB Seating Pty Ltd is the Australian subsidiary of KAB Seating, the Northampton suspension-seat maker whose lineage runs back to Bostrom Seating in 1935; KAB Seating Ltd was formed in 1984 and has been part of Commercial Vehicle Group since 2001. The Australian company, based at Park Ridge in Queensland, has more than three decades of experience and holds ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Its office chairs are built the way its truck and mining seats are: for people who sit in them for whole shifts.
We sell KAB because control rooms, dispatch desks and 24-hour operations ask for a chair certified for multi-shift use, and the Controller Base is AFRDI 142 certified to 160 kg in multiple-shift operation, with AS/NZS 4438 Level 6; KAB's own weight rating is 200 kg. Chair Dinkum is an authorised KAB Seating dealer. Call 02 9640 0642 for a control-room quote.
