Herman Miller Aeron Remastered chair in a workspace

Herman Miller Introduces the Aeron in Colour: Jasper and Nightfall Arrive

The Herman Miller Aeron has been a benchmark in ergonomic seating for more than three decades, recognised for its comfort and support in both office and home environments. Traditionally the Aeron came only in restrained neutrals — graphite, carbon, mineral, onyx. That was a deliberate decision, reinforcing the chair's status as a professional tool rather than a decorative object. In June 2026 Herman Miller expanded the palette with two nature-inspired colours: Jasper, a deep forest green, and Nightfall, a rich navy blue.

Stock status: Jasper and Nightfall are new to the Aeron range and we do not have them in stock yet. Everything below describes the colourways as Herman Miller has released them. If you want one, tell us and we will come back to you with price, lead time and availability in writing before you commit — call 02 9640 0642 or use our contact page. The rest of the Aeron range is available now.

This is the most significant aesthetic change in the Aeron's 32-year history, and it reflects a shift in how Herman Miller thinks about performance furniture — that a chair can perform and still express something about the room it sits in.

Why colour matters for modern home offices

When the Aeron was primarily a corporate chair, uniformity was the point. Hundreds of identical chairs read as coherent across a floor plate. As home offices became permanent, that logic stopped applying. The chair is no longer only equipment; it sits in a room someone chose the paint for.

In our own experience selling the Aeron to Australian home-office buyers, colour is one of the most frequent questions. People rarely ask for extra adjustment mechanisms or more sizes. They regularly ask whether it comes in anything other than grey or black. Jasper and Nightfall are the answer to that question.

Jasper and Nightfall in detail

Jasper is a deep, saturated green named after the mineral. It shifts with the light — dark and businesslike under artificial lighting, revealing its green in daylight. Nightfall is a deep navy that behaves the same way: close to black in an office, unmistakably blue by a window.

The detail that matters on both is that they are fully colour-matched. Frame, mesh, arm pads and base are all finished in the colour rather than a coloured seat bolted to a black frame, which is how most "colour options" in this category are done. It is the difference between a chair that is green and a chair with green on it.

Sustainability

The Aeron incorporates ocean-bound plastics, part of Herman Miller's programme to reduce reliance on virgin material, and the chair contains over 50% recycled content by weight. The 8Z Pellicle mesh in the new colourways uses the same eight tension zones as every other Aeron, so nothing about the ergonomic performance changes with the finish.

Sizing and weight ratings

Herman Miller uprated the Size C frame to 181 kg, from the previous 159 kg. Size A remains 136 kg and Size B 159 kg.

These are maximum ratings rather than recommended bands, and the distinction matters. The Aeron is sized primarily by user height — Size A for roughly 147 to 163 cm, Size B for 157 to 183 cm, Size C for 178 to 198 cm — with the weight rating used to confirm the size suits you rather than to choose it. Seat depth is fixed per size and cannot be adjusted, which is why getting the size right matters more on an Aeron than on almost any other chair. Our Aeron size guide works it through properly.

Buying an Aeron in Australia

Jasper and Nightfall are not in our stock yet. Register your interest and we will confirm price, lead time and availability in writing rather than take an order against a date we cannot promise.

The rest of the range is available now, including the Aeron Remastered in Onyx, Graphite and Mineral. Browse the full Aeron range or the wider Herman Miller collection.

One thing we say plainly on every Herman Miller page: our stock is genuine, brand-new product supplied as an international parallel import, sourced outside Herman Miller's authorised Australian channel. That means the cover on it is our own 12-year Chair Dinkum warranty rather than Herman Miller's. Full terms are on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy the Aeron in Jasper or Nightfall from Chair Dinkum now?

Not yet. The colourways were released by Herman Miller in June 2026 and we do not have stock at the time of writing. Register your interest on 02 9640 0642 or through our contact page and we will confirm price, lead time and availability in writing before you commit to anything.

Are Jasper and Nightfall available in all three Aeron sizes?

Herman Miller offers both colours across sizes A, B and C, so the colour choice does not restrict which size you can have.

Do the new colours change the chair's comfort or performance?

No. The 8Z Pellicle mesh, the tilt and the PostureFit SL support are identical across colourways. The finish is the only difference.

How do Jasper and Nightfall differ from the older Aeron colours?

Both are fully colour-matched across the frame, mesh, arm pads and base, rather than a coloured seat on a black frame. Jasper is a deep green that shows its colour in daylight and reads almost neutral under office lighting; Nightfall does the same in navy.

Is Size C suitable for heavier users?

Size C is rated to a maximum user weight of 181 kg, up from 159 kg. Treat the rating as a ceiling rather than a recommendation: choose your size by height first, with Size C suiting roughly 178 to 198 cm, then use the rating to confirm the size works for you.

Can I try an Aeron before buying?

Yes. Sizes A, B and C are set up side by side at our Pyrmont showroom by appointment, which is the only reliable way to settle the size question. Call 02 9640 0642 or use our contact page.

What warranty applies to a Herman Miller chair bought from Chair Dinkum?

A 12-year warranty provided and serviced by Chair Dinkum in Sydney, covering the frame, mechanism, gas lift, base, armrest structure and mesh. Our stock is parallel import, so Herman Miller's own warranty does not apply to it. Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply on top and cannot be excluded.
