Every pod conversation we have with a facilities manager goes the same way. They know which pod they want within about ten minutes. Then it goes to finance, and finance asks a different question: not "which pod", but "what does this actually cost us, over how long, and against what alternative".
That question deserves a straight answer, so here is ours — the purchase prices, what falls due afterwards, where the warranty stops, and the arithmetic you can put in front of a CFO. The purchase price, which is the easy part

Those are the numbers people quote in the meeting. They are also the only numbers most suppliers will give you, which is why pods get bought on a capital line and then quietly cost money nobody budgeted for.
Cost per person per year, which is the number that persuades
A pod is not really a capital purchase, it is a small room you can move. The useful framing is what it costs per head, per year, over however long your organisation intends to keep it.
The arithmetic below is on the purchase price only, at two horizons, so you can substitute your own. It is division, not a claim about how long a pod lasts — pick your own life and run the same sum.

Now divide again by the number of people who will actually use it. A single One Compact on a floor of 40 staff, kept ten years, is $35.50 per person per year. A Framery Four on the same floor is $79.50. Those are the figures worth taking into the meeting, because they are the ones that survive contact with a finance team — a $31,800 line item does not, and it is the same money.
The comparison that matters is not pod against pod. It is pod against the alternative you would otherwise fund: a built meeting room. We are not going to invent a construction number for you — get one from your builder for a comparable room — but when you compare them, count the things a built room costs that a pod does not:
- Base-build services: power, data, lighting, and a tie-in to the building's mechanical ventilation.
- Certification and approvals, and the programme time they consume.
- Make-good at end of lease, which on a built room is a real and often forgotten liability.
- Permanence. A room stays where you built it. A pod moves with you to the next tenancy, which on a five-year lease is the entire argument.
What falls due after the invoice
Four categories. We are not publishing rates for these because they depend on your building, your floor and your fleet, and a number invented here would be wrong for you. Ask us and we will quote against your actual site.
- Delivery and installation. Driven by access, not distance. A Framery Four weighs 520 kg assembled and arrives as two crates, the heavier one 395 kg and 2.26 m long — so the lift, the corridor and the floor loading decide the cost, not the kilometres. - Electrical connection. A pod needs a power point where it lands. If there is not one, that is an electrician and possibly a floor box.
- Relocation. Cheap compared with rebuilding a room, and the reason to buy a pod in the first place — but not free, and a relocated pod has to be re-levelled and re-sealed to perform as it did.
- Servicing. See below. This is the one nobody budgets and the one that decides whether the asset still does its job in year four.
The warranty cliff at year three
Framery's warranty gets quoted as "five years" almost universally. It is not one number, it is four, and the components that determine whether your pod is still private are covered for the shortest time.

Read the second row again. The door seal and the hinges — the two components that decide whether the pod is still acoustically doing its job — are covered for two years. The structure, which almost never fails, is covered for five. Anyone selling you a pod on a "comprehensive five-year warranty covering the smart technology" has it exactly backwards: the smart technology is the shortest-covered category in the document.
Two conditions decide whether any of that cover is live, and neither is usually disclosed:
- The warranty must be activated by completing Framery's installation report form.
- The pod must be installed by a Framery-trained installer, or Framery is not obliged to remedy defects.
Defects must also be reported within 21 days of discovery. This is the practical reason to buy through an authorised dealer rather than a grey-market supplier: as an authorised Australian Framery dealer we complete the installation report and use Framery-trained installers as a matter of course, so the warranty is active from the day the pod lands. Ask anyone you are comparing us with how they handle both. A pod installed outside those terms is an uncovered pod, and you will not find out until something fails.

Why servicing is the line item that matters
A pod is bought for one reason: it makes a private, quiet space in an open office. That performance rests almost entirely on three things — a compressible door seal meeting a correctly aligned door, a cabinet sitting square and level on every foot, and ventilation moving enough air to keep the space usable with the door shut.
All three degrade continuously. None of them announces it. A three-year-old pod with a compression-set door seal and a sagging hinge is still, to everyone walking past, "working". It is no longer private. The organisation paid between fourteen and thirty-two thousand dollars for a property it has quietly stopped having, and there is no line in the building's maintenance schedule that would catch it.
That is the actual cost-of-ownership risk, and it is not a repair bill — it is the slow loss of the thing you bought. What you cannot safely do yourself is the important part. Framery's terms void cover for repairs, alterations or customisation carried out without Framery's written consent, and for non-approved parts. In practice that means a general facilities contractor cannot open an in-warranty Framery pod without putting the warranty at risk. What you are actually buying, acoustically
One specification is worth carrying into the finance conversation, because it is what justifies the price against a cheaper booth. All three pods are rated Class A, 30 DS,A dB speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1 — the standard that measures the assembled pod rather than one wall panel.
Class A means at least 30 dB of speech level reduction. It does not mean inaudible, and any supplier telling you conversations "cannot be heard" is overclaiming. When you compare quotes, ask every supplier for the acoustic class and the ISO 23351-1 figure. A bare decibel number with no standard named is usually a laboratory measurement of a single panel and tells you nothing about the pod you would be buying. The five questions to put in your submission
- What is the acoustic class and the ISO 23351-1 figure for the assembled pod?
- What is the warranty, component group by component group, and how long is each?
- Who completes the installation report, and is the installer manufacturer-trained?
- What does delivery and installation cost into this building, through this lift?
- Who services it in year four, and what happens to the warranty when they open it?
