Every acoustic pod conversation we have with a fit-out team follows the same arc. Acoustics, layouts, price, lead time — all sensible questions, all answerable. Then someone from the building side joins the call and asks how a 520 kg box gets from a loading dock in Ultimo to level fourteen, and the room goes quiet.
That question kills more pod specifications than price does, and it is almost never answered in the marketing. So this is the logistics guide: what each Framery pod weighs, what actually arrives on the truck, what it has to fit through, what it does to a floor slab, and what happens when the lease ends and it has to move again.
Every figure below comes from Framery's own published technical documentation. Where Framery publishes nothing — and on this subject there are real gaps — this article says so rather than estimating. Chair Dinkum is an authorised Australian Framery dealer, so where a number is not public we can ask Framery for it in writing rather than guess.
Once it is standing there it looks like furniture. Getting it there is a building problem.
What each pod weighs
This is the number to establish first, because everything else follows from it.

Two things worth pausing on.
The layout you choose changes the weight by 100 kg. A Framery Four Base is 460 kg because it ships without furniture. The Accessible layout is 560 kg. If your structural advice was given against "about half a tonne", it was given against the middle of a range, not the top of it.
The Framery One's door swings 90°, not 180°. The Compact and the Four both open through 180°. That sounds like a detail until you place a One against a corridor wall and discover the door needs the corridor.
What arrives on the truck
Pods arrive flat-packed in crates, not assembled. The crate is the thing that has to fit in the lift.
Pods are not delivered standing up. They arrive flat-packed, and the crate dimensions are what your building manager actually needs.
For the Framery Four, Framery publishes two crates:

The 395 kg crate is the constraint. A standard Australian commercial passenger lift is commonly rated around 1,000 kg, so the mass is rarely the problem — but a crate 2.26 m long is, because it has to go in diagonally or not at all. Measure the lift car's internal diagonal, not its floor area, and check the door opening height separately.
If the lift will not take a 226 cm crate, the options are a goods lift, a hoist, or a crane and a window — and that is a conversation to have before the order, not after the truck arrives.
Framery publishes crate dimensions for the Four only. There are no published crate figures for the One or the One Compact. Given the One is 357 kg assembled and the Compact 253 kg, the crates are smaller, but we are not going to print a number Framery has not published. Ask us and we will get the crate schedule for your exact configuration in writing before you commit to a delivery method.
Getting it through the building
Framery publishes doorway and clearance figures for the Four:
- Doorway of the pod itself: 209.7 × 96.6 cm
- Room height required: 238 cm — against a pod 232.9 cm tall, so about 5 cm of working clearance
- Operating space, back to front: 225.8 cm
- Free space needed around the pod during installation: 50 cm on all sides
- Threshold height: 1.25 cm
That 238 cm room height is the figure that catches people, and it is worth checking against your actual ceiling rather than your nominal one. A tenancy advertised at 2.7 m often has 2.4 m or less under the bulkheads, sprinklers and services where you were planning to put the pod. Measure under the lowest obstruction in the intended location, not in the middle of the floor.
The 50 cm of free space on all sides during installation is separate from the pod's finished footprint. A Framery Four occupies 3.04 m² standing still, but the installers need roughly a metre more in each direction while they build it. Plan the sequence so the pod goes in before the surrounding workstations, not after.
Framery does not publish room height, installation clearance or threshold figures for the One or the One Compact on its technical specification pages. Do not assume the Four's numbers scale down.
Floor loading: the number your engineer will ask for
Two pods on one floorplate is a structural question, not a furniture question.
Here is where we have to be careful, because this is the part of the specification where a confident-sounding wrong number does real damage.
A Framery Four is 520 kg over a footprint of 3.04 m². Divide one by the other and you get roughly 171 kg/m² distributed. That figure is arithmetic we have done here, not a Framery specification, and it is the least useful way to look at the problem.
It is the least useful because the pod does not sit on its whole footprint. It stands on levelling feet, which means the load arrives at the slab as a set of point loads, not as an evenly spread mat. Framery does not publish a point load per foot, and does not publish a floor loading capacity for the pod structure. Neither do we, and neither should anyone else selling you one.
What Framery does publish is the load limits of the furniture inside — the table takes 60 kg, the sofa takes 408 kg — which are useful for a different question entirely.
So the honest process is: give your structural engineer the assembled weight for your exact layout, the footprint, and the fact that the load is delivered through levelling feet. If they need a point load per foot, tell us and we will request it from Framery in writing. On a modern commercial slab this is usually a non-event. On a heritage timber floor, a mezzanine, or anywhere you are putting several pods close together, it is not, and it is a great deal cheaper to ask in week one than in week twelve.
Power and ventilation: what the base build has to provide
Pods plug into a standard outlet. They are not hardwired, and that is the point.
The good news for the electrical scope: these plug in. All three run on 100–240 VAC, 10 A, 50–60 Hz — an ordinary outlet, not a dedicated circuit and not a hardwired connection. That is a large part of why a pod is not a building work.

Two observations that are not in the brochures.
The One Compact moves more air than the One. 36 L/s against 26 L/s, in a smaller box. If your floor runs warm — west-facing glass, poor perimeter throw — that difference matters more than the extra floor area of the One.
On the Four, do the per-person arithmetic yourself. 100 L/s across four people is 25 L/s each at maximum; at the 78 L/s default it is 19.5 L/s each. Those are the numbers to hand your mechanical consultant to check against the ventilation rate your project is being assessed under. We are not going to tell you which clause of AS 1668.2 applies to your building — that is your consultant's call, and it depends on how the pod is treated in the design.
The Four also carries mmWave radar presence detection, so ventilation and lighting step down when it is empty — which is where the 20 W standby figure comes from.
Moving it again when the lease ends
This is the argument that usually wins the internal business case, and it is worth stating precisely.
Framery offers a movability kit for the Four — casters that let the pod be relocated without disassembly. The kit is reusable, one kit can move multiple pods, and it also fits the Framery Six. So a floorplate reshuffle does not mean a rebuild, and an office move does not mean writing the pod off.
That is a genuine difference from a built meeting room, and it is the reason pods are often treated as equipment rather than as a capital improvement to someone else's building. How that is treated for depreciation is a question for your accountant, not for us — but the physical fact underneath it, that the thing can be wheeled out and taken with you, is published by the manufacturer.
What Framery does not publish
A short and deliberate list, because the gaps are as useful as the figures:
- Point load per levelling foot, and any floor loading capacity for the structure.
- Crate dimensions and weights for the One and the One Compact. Published for the Four only.
- Room height, installation clearance and threshold figures for the One and One Compact.
- Lead times. Framery pods ship from Finland. Anyone quoting you a delivery date without putting it in writing is guessing.
- Warranty duration on the technical pages — it is published separately, and it is not one period across the pod. See below.
The warranty condition that logistics can void
Worth including here because it is an installation issue, not a paperwork issue.
Framery's cover is per component, not one period: 5 years on structure and standard parts, 2 years on wear parts (door, seals, hinges, locks, fabrics, carpet, gliders), 2 years on electronics (LED lighting, fans, power and USB chargers, screens, sensors, motorised height adjustment), and 1 year on Framery Connect sensors. Note that the smart technology carries the shortest cover, not the longest.
Two conditions decide whether any of it is live: the warranty must be activated by completing Framery's installation report, and the pod must be installed by a Framery-trained installer. If it is not, Framery is not obliged to remedy defects. Defects must be reported within 21 days of discovery.
That is the practical case for buying through an authorised dealer rather than an importer with a container: it is not about the price of the box, it is about whether the cover exists on the day it is handed over. Where we install, we complete the report and use Framery-trained installers. All of this sits on top of your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which no manufacturer's warranty can exclude.
When a pod is the wrong answer
A pod earns its place where a built room cannot go. Where a built room can, run the numbers both ways.
If your ceiling is under 238 cm where the pod has to go, the Framery Four is out, and no amount of wanting it changes that. Measure before you design around it.
If the crate cannot reach the floor, and a crane is the only route, the crane usually costs more than the acoustic problem you were solving. Price that first.
If you have a long lease, a compliant slab and a landlord who will let you build, a built meeting room may still be the better answer for a permanent four-person space. The pod's advantages are relocatability, no wet trades and no approvals — if none of those apply to you, you are paying for flexibility you will not use.
If you need more than four people in one pod, the Four is not it. Framery makes larger models; ask us rather than trying to make four seats work for six.
Before you order
- Measure the ceiling under the lowest obstruction in the intended position.
- Get the lift car's internal diagonal and door opening height, not just its rated load.
- Confirm the loading dock access and whether there is a level route from dock to lift.
- Give your structural engineer the assembled weight for your chosen layout — 460, 520 or 560 kg on the Four — not a round number.
- Allow 50 cm clear on all sides in the installation programme.
- Get the lead time in writing.
