HÅG Capisco saddle chair in a contemporary office workspace — Chair Dinkum, exclusive Australian distributor for the Flokk group

Chair Dinkum Is Now the Exclusive Australian Distributor for Flokk

Chair Dinkum has become the exclusive Australian distributor for the Flokk group, across all eleven of Flokk's brands.

In practice that means the chairs we have been selling out of Pyrmont since 2014 now come into the country through us, and Australian retailers who sell Flokk product buy that product from Chair Dinkum. What follows is what the arrangement actually changes, which depends entirely on whether you are buying one chair, specifying a few hundred, or reselling them.

What Flokk is

Flokk is a Norwegian group, headquartered in Oslo, that has spent the past decade consolidating a large part of European contract seating — and more recently North American contract seating — under one owner. Flokk describes itself as "a family of design-led brands shaping workspaces where people and organisations thrive", with "over 400 years of experience in designing and manufacturing furniture". That figure is a clue to how the group works: Flokk is considerably younger than most of the brands inside it. Giroflex traces back to 1872, HÅG to 1943, RH to the 1970s.

The eleven brands, as Flokk lists them, are HÅG, RH, Giroflex, Profim, Offecct, Connection, 9to5 Seating, VIA Seating, Stylex, Spec and Malmstolen.

Most Australians who own one of these chairs know the brand and have never heard of the parent. Someone who bought a Capisco knows it is a HÅG; someone specifying a control room knows RH. Very few know the two share an owner, a warranty structure, a spare parts supply and a single approach to environmental documentation. That shared structure is the reason this arrangement is worth writing about at all, and we have set it out in more detail on our Flokk page.

If you are buying one chair

Honestly: day to day, not much changes. The chair is the same chair, made in the same factories, to the same specification. Nobody should buy a Capisco because of a distribution agreement.

Three things do change, and they are the sort of thing you only notice when something goes wrong or when you want something unusual.

Stock sits in Australia. For the ranges we carry as standing lines, the chairs are here rather than on a boat. That is the difference between a lead time quoted in days and one quoted in months.

Warranty is assessed and handled in Sydney. As the Australian distributor, a claim on a Flokk chair is dealt with here rather than routed to a European office through an intermediary. This is covered properly further down.

The full range becomes orderable. Previously an Australian buyer got whatever a dealer had chosen to bring in. A model, a fabric or a mechanism outside that selection was effectively unavailable. It is now a question of lead time rather than a dead end.

You can still come and sit in the ones we hold. The Pyrmont showroom is open by appointment.

If you specify, fit out, or buy for government

This is where the arrangement matters most, and the reasons are procedural rather than commercial.

One supply point across eleven brands. A fit-out that needs task seating, a boardroom, breakout, acoustic pieces and coat stands has historically meant several suppliers, several lead times and several sets of terms. Those categories now sit inside one group and come through one contact here.

Documentation for tenders. Flokk publishes Environmental Product Declarations, recycled content figures and test data per model, rather than making general environmental claims about the brand. The HÅG Tion 2100 shell, for example, is 94 per cent recycled plastic — a stated, model-specific figure. Per-model documentation of that kind is what green-building submissions and government tenders actually require; a brand-level sustainability statement will not satisfy an evaluation panel. We can supply the documents for the models you are specifying.

Volume quoting. Quantity pricing across the whole group now comes from us directly rather than being passed up a chain.

Chair Dinkum is a registered supplier on the NSW Government buy.nsw panel. For the practical side of specifying, see commercial fit-outs and commercial office chairs in Australia.

If you are a retailer

Australian retailers, dealers and resellers who carry Flokk product now buy it from Chair Dinkum. Trade ordering is set up and operating. If you are a retailer, specifier or contractor wanting trade terms, register through our dealer registration page and we will come back to you with pricing and account terms.

The eleven brands, and what we actually hold

A distribution agreement is not a warehouse full of everything. Below is each brand, described only as far as Flokk itself describes it, with an honest note on whether we hold it now or order it in.

HÅG — held in stock

Norwegian, dating to 1943, and the brand the business was effectively built on here. Flokk says HÅG "designs chairs that help you stay healthier, more active and alert by enabling effortless movement of your whole body while you sit and work". We stock the Capisco range — Peter Opsvik designed the original in 1984 and it has been in production ever since — and the Tion range. The full HÅG range we carry, including parts and accessories, is at HÅG chairs.

RH — held in stock

Swedish. Rolf Holstensson started the company in 1977 in Bodafors, in the Småland region, and Flokk positions the brand as "designed for human performance", built around upright working postures. We hold the Secur24, the New Logic 220, and the Mereo 220 and Mereo 300. One heritage note worth carrying, because buyers still search the old name: the RH Secur24 was previously sold as the BMA Secur24, and BMA Ergonomics merged into RH on 1 January 2025. The 24/7 models sit in our 24/7 and control room range; the wider range is at RH chairs.

RH is built around upright working postures, and Flokk positions the brand as designed for human performance. The Mereo 220 and Mereo 300 are among the RH models we hold in stock.

Offecct — coat stands held, range to order

Swedish in origin, though Flokk notes "the philosophy has always been borderless and characterised by an international perspective on Scandinavian design". Offecct makes "furniture for both private and public spaces", used in "workplaces, hotels, restaurants, airports and public spaces around the world". It joined the group in 2017. We currently stock the Offecct Hanger coat stand — see coat racks — and order the rest of the range in.

Profim — coat stands held, range to order

Polish, and the group's volume brand. Profim joined Flokk in 2018, "expanding Flokk's presence in Central Europe and widening its product offer", and Flokk positions it as "a universal approach to the workspace, providing beautiful and functional furniture for every budget", covering office chairs, meeting chairs and soft seating. We stock Profim coat stands and order the seating in.

Giroflex — available to order

The oldest name in the group. Flokk's own history puts its roots at 1872, and describes Giroflex as "a manufacturer of high quality, ergonomic seating for workplaces, offices and home offices around the world". Available to order.

Connection — available to order

Flokk describes Connection as "a British furniture brand established in Huddersfield in 1997" that designs and manufactures "innovative furniture products that bring people together to connect, collaborate, create and learn", and as the group's specialist in furniture "that compliments and interacts with architecture through soft separations". It joined in 2022. Available to order.

9to5 Seating — available to order

American. Flokk records that 9to5 Seating "joined in 2019, giving Flokk a direct platform in the US market". Available to order.

Stylex — available to order

American. Flokk records that "in 2024, Stylex further expanded Flokk's US presence". Available to order.

VIA Seating — available to order

American. Flokk records VIA Seating joining in February 2025, extending the group's North American reach. Available to order.

Spec — available to order

North American. Flokk records that "in April 2026, Spec became part of Flokk, strengthening the group in Canada and adding a stronger foothold in North American healthcare environments". Available to order.

Malmstolen — available to order

Flokk lists Malmstolen as one of the eleven brands but publishes no brand description for it on flokk.com, so we are not going to invent one. Available to order, and we will describe it properly here once there is a published source to describe it from.

Warranty, which is the part that genuinely improves

This is the clearest benefit of the arrangement. As the Australian distributor, warranty claims on Flokk product are assessed and handled by us in Sydney, rather than being passed along a chain to an office in another hemisphere. The terms themselves are set by Flokk and are unchanged. They are worth reading properly, because the conditions attached to the headline numbers are the part most often left out.

HÅG. Ten years in normal use of up to 9 hours per day, for users up to 110 kg. Beyond 9 hours per day, the term is 5 years. Fabrics and leather are covered for 5 years.

RH. Ten years in normal use of up to 9 hours per day, for users up to 150 kg. Flokk separately provides a 5 year warranty for RH chairs that are approved for control room 24/7 use — the RH Secur24 is one of these — and upholstery is not covered under those terms unless it is an RH approved 24/7 fabric.

The RH Secur24 is approved for control room 24/7 use, and carries a 5 year Flokk warranty on that basis.

Read the two RH terms side by side rather than treating ten as automatically the better number. A 5 year term written for round-the-clock occupancy and a 10 year term that steps down past 9 hours per day are not comparable figures, and dropping the headline number into an evaluation matrix without its hours condition is how a control room ends up outside its warranty terms on the day of installation. We have written that up at length in specifying 24/7 control room chairs in Australia.

All of this is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Those consumer guarantees cannot be excluded by any manufacturer's warranty, and as the supplier we are responsible for meeting them. Full terms for every brand we carry are on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

What is Flokk?

Flokk is a Norwegian furniture group headquartered in Oslo that owns eleven seating and workspace brands: HÅG, RH, Giroflex, Profim, Offecct, Connection, 9to5 Seating, VIA Seating, Stylex, Spec and Malmstolen. It describes itself as a family of design-led brands with over 400 years of combined furniture experience, which reflects the age of the individual brands rather than the group — Giroflex dates to 1872, HÅG to 1943 and RH to the 1970s.

Which Flokk brands does Chair Dinkum distribute in Australia?

All eleven. Chair Dinkum is the exclusive Australian distributor for the Flokk group, which covers HÅG, RH, Giroflex, Profim, Offecct, Connection, 9to5 Seating, VIA Seating, Stylex, Spec and Malmstolen.

Does this change the warranty on a HÅG or RH chair?

The terms are set by Flokk and are unchanged. What changes is where a claim is handled: as the Australian distributor, Chair Dinkum assesses and handles warranty claims in Sydney rather than routing them offshore. HÅG is 10 years in normal use of up to 9 hours per day for users up to 110 kg, 5 years beyond 9 hours per day, with fabrics and leather covered for 5 years. RH is 10 years in normal use of up to 9 hours per day for users up to 150 kg, with a separate 5 year warranty for RH chairs approved for control room 24/7 use, under which upholstery is not covered unless it is an RH approved 24/7 fabric. All of this is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.

Can other retailers buy Flokk product wholesale from Chair Dinkum?

Yes. Australian retailers, dealers and resellers now buy Flokk product from Chair Dinkum, and trade ordering is set up and operating. Register through the dealer registration page and we will come back with pricing and account terms.

Is the whole Flokk range held in stock in Australia?

No, and it would be misleading to say otherwise. Chair Dinkum currently stocks HÅG in the Capisco and Tion ranges, RH in the Secur24, New Logic 220 and Mereo 220 and 300, and Offecct and Profim coat stands. Everything else across the eleven brands is available to order rather than held on the floor.

Does Chair Dinkum supply environmental documentation for tenders?

Yes. Flokk publishes Environmental Product Declarations, recycled content figures and test data per model rather than making general brand-level environmental claims — the HÅG Tion 2100 shell, for instance, is 94 per cent recycled plastic. We can supply the documents for the models you are specifying. Ask early, because turnaround depends on the manufacturer.

Unrelated to Flokk, Chair Dinkum is also an authorised Australian Framery dealer.
