YADO

Rooms within rooms

Modern workplaces are designed for connection. People also need somewhere to step away from it: somewhere to make a call, to concentrate, to have a conversation that doesn't belong to the whole floor.

YADO makes those rooms. Three freestanding acoustic pods, each with its own light, air and power, designed to be placed rather than built.

Privacy you can measure

The standard for an assembled pod is ISO 23351-1. It measures speech level reduction, DS,A, in decibels and sorts results into classes. The YADO 120 carries a manufacturer-published result of 30 dB DS,A, which is Class A, and the manufacturer publishes about 30 dB for the YADO 100. The manufacturer states the YADO 220 has been tested by SGS under the same standard; its figure and class are not published, so ask us for the latest test information.

In practice, conversation inside a Class A pod becomes much harder to understand from outside, and the noise of the office drops into the background for the people inside. No pod is completely soundproof; YADO is built for privacy in an open workplace, not for recording or for isolating loud noise.

Figures are the manufacturer's published results. When comparing pods, ask for the ISO 23351-1 result and class; a bare decibel figure is not comparable.

Made for the workday

Light, air and power, built in

Fresh air

A presence sensor starts the ventilation when someone steps in. The YADO 220 moves up to 132 L/s through four fan channels and changes its air in 30 seconds.

Light

4000 K LED lighting with a colour rendering index above 90. The YADO 100 and 120 add a dedicated video light; the YADO 220 has a video preset.

Power

A power outlet, USB-A and USB-C charging at the work surface, from a single mains connection. Extra outlets and LAN are available.

Comfort

A high stool and desk shelf in the 100, an electric sit-stand desk in the 120, and facing sofas around a table in the 220.

Designed to belong

A simple form that sits with the architecture

Every YADO pod shares one outline: a soft-cornered steel shell, a birch plywood frame and a glass front. The YADO 220 takes it furthest, with a black enamelled glass front that hides its frames. Nothing is added that does not need to be there.

Exteriors come in white or black as standard, with light grey, green, salmon orange, traffic red and cobalt blue on request. Inside, choose from 14 acoustic felt colours and a range of upholstery fabrics, so the pods can disappear into a fit-out or become part of it.

Each pod stands on its own feet, with an optional anchoring kit and castor kit, so it can be planned into an existing floor and moved when the floor changes.

The name

A place to stay

Yado is a Japanese word for a place to stay: shelter on the way somewhere. We chose it for a simple idea, a small room you step into for an hour and then leave.

YADO pods are made in China and are selected, specified and supported in Australia by Chair Dinkum.

Frequently asked questions

How soundproof are YADO pods?

No pod is completely soundproof. The YADO 120 carries a manufacturer-published speech level reduction of 30 dB D(S,A) under ISO 23351-1, which is Class A, and the manufacturer publishes about 30 dB for the YADO 100: conversation inside becomes much harder to understand from outside, and office noise is reduced for the people inside. The manufacturer states the YADO 220 has been tested by SGS under ISO 23351-1 but does not publish its figure or class; ask us for the latest test information.

What is the difference between the YADO 100 and the YADO 120?

Both are for one person. The YADO 100 is the compact phone booth: a high stool and desk shelf on 0.99 m², for calls and short focus. The YADO 120 is 200 mm wider inside, with an electric sit-stand desk and an adjustable seat, for longer work.

How many people fit in the YADO 220?

Two to four, on two facing sofas around a table of 700 × 530 mm.

Do YADO pods need to be fixed to the building?

No. They are freestanding. An anchoring kit with brackets is available where your building or certifier asks for one, and castor kits let pods be moved on the same floor without dismantling them.

Do they need power?

Yes. Light, ventilation and charging run from mains power, so each pod needs a power point within reach of its cable. Typical consumption is 28 W.

Can finishes be customised?

White and black exteriors are standard. Light grey, green, salmon orange, traffic red and cobalt blue are available on request, with 14 interior felt colours and a range of upholstery fabrics. Ask us about samples and lead time for non-standard finishes.

How are YADO pods delivered?

Crated, and assembled in position. The YADO 100 and 120 each arrive in one crate; the YADO 220 in two. We check lifts, corridors and floor loading with you before delivery is booked.

Can Chair Dinkum install them?

Yes. We quote delivery and installation for your site, Australia-wide. In New South Wales, Building Commission NSW guidance treats an office pod as a room, so installation is building work and your certifier's requirements apply; we can supply the product information we hold.
