The Logic Family

The High-Back Logic

The New Logic 220 is the tall-backed chair in RH's Logic family. Its backrest stands 620 mm against the 200's 518, and the lumbar support sits lower in its range — 135 to 233 mm above the seat rather than 153 to 257 — so the support meets the small of the back instead of riding up it. For anyone who wants shoulder height behind them, that is the whole difference between the two.

The tilt is infinitely adjustable and locks anywhere, and RH's advice is to leave it open: the seat and back follow you as you lean in and stretch back, and that constant small movement is what a chair like this is for. The backrest angle adjusts separately, through 19 degrees.

Two Seat Sizes

Built to Fit the Person

Seat height runs 406 to 550 mm on the standard gas stem, the seat slides from 400 to 499 mm deep, and the seat angle tips from +8.6° to −15.5°. The armrests set between 199 and 315 mm above the seat and 318 to 515 mm apart, which is a wide enough spread to suit most shoulders without the arms fouling the desk.

On top of all that the 220 comes in two seat sizes, standard and extra large. Most ergonomic chairs give you one seat and a lot of adjustment; this one gives you a choice of seat first, which matters more than any single lever if the standard pan has never quite fit you. Taller than the 200's 518 mm, height-adjustable from 581 to 681 mm above the seat, with the lumbar support set anywhere from 135 to 233 mm up so it meets the small of your back.

Why We Stock It

The Logic is the RH chair we reach for when someone wants a proper high back and does not want to think about it afterwards. The five-year redesign with Stokke and Austad went into the things you touch — the levers, the pictograms, the reach — and the result is a chair that gets set up properly by the person sitting in it rather than by whoever delivered it.

Set the seat height so your feet are flat, slide the seat until two or three fingers fit behind your knee, raise the back so the lumbar support meets the small of your back, set the armrests to your elbow height, then leave the tilt open and let the chair move with you. Every lever carries a pictogram, so you can do all of it seated without looking underneath.
