Lean back in most executive chairs and the back tips while the seat stays put; you slide forward and your lower back loses the support. The Tribute is built on HÅG inBalance®, the same balanced tilt principle HÅG uses on the Capisco and the SoFi: seat and back move together, forwards to 7° and back to 18°, with adjustable resistance and a tilt lock with three positions if you want it still.
The point is not to recline. It is that the chair keeps moving while you read, take a call or think, so you change position without deciding to, and a long day in the chair does not end with a stiff back.
Lumbar by Wheel, Headrest Adjustable
A Back That Follows Your Spine
The back is S-curved to follow the spine's natural shape, and the upper section moves forward as you recline so it stays against your shoulders instead of leaving a gap. Lumbar support is fully integrated and height-adjustable by a wheel on the back, from 17 to 24 cm above the seat, so the curve lands where your spine is rather than where the upholsterer put it.
Above it, the 9031's headrest adjusts between 68 and 79.5 cm above the seat: high enough to support the neck when you lean back, rather than pushing the head forward when you sit up.
HÅG TiltDown™
Armrests That Get Out of the Way
HÅG TiltDown™ armrests adjust for height, from 17.8 to 28.5 cm above the seat, and for width, and they are topped in leather so your forearms rest on hide rather than plastic. When you want the chair under the desk, they tilt down out of the way; there is no wrestling the chair sideways to get it close.
Seat depth adjusts from 39.5 to 48 cm, so the front edge sits behind your knees whether you are 165 cm or 195 cm tall, and the seat height runs 41 to 52 cm on the standard 150 mm lift or 46 to 64 cm on the 200 mm lift.

HÅG inBalance® Tilt

The figures here are Flokk's own, from the HÅG Tribute factsheet, converted to centimetres; seat heights are measured under a 64 kg load, so an unloaded chair sits slightly higher. Flokk's webshop gives a slightly different seat-height range, 38.7 to 52.5 cm, for the 150 mm lift, and we quote both until Flokk confirms which is current. The product photographs are the chairs we hold in Sydney; the lumbar-wheel and armrest photographs are Flokk's own of the 9031. Craftsmanship
Made in Røros, Norway
Flokk's brochure puts it plainly: each Tribute is made by one of the skilled technicians at HÅG's factory in Røros, Norway, a mountain town where HÅG has been part of the community since 1957. Flokk's Environmental Product Declaration for the chair names the site, Sundveien, Røros, and declares the chair at 44% recycled material, 89% recyclable at end of life, and a carbon footprint of 126 kg CO2 equivalents over a fifteen-year reference service life.
Flokk's photographs from the factory show the upholstery being cut and sewn on site. It is a slower way to build a chair, and it is why the leather sits the way it does on the frame.
The Designer
Designed by Svein Asbjørnsen
The Tribute was designed for HÅG by Svein Asbjørnsen of sapDesign®, a Norwegian designer who, in Flokk's words, is passionate about how we sit and how it affects us over time. His brief was an executive chair that did not give up the movement HÅG is known for in exchange for looking the part, and the result is a chair with a genuinely HÅG mechanism under a high leather back.
Flokk photographs him in one in the Norwegian mountains. It is a fair summary of the chair: quiet, upright, and built somewhere cold.

This listing is the HÅG Tribute 9031, the high-back model with the adjustable headrest and TiltDown armrests, in the configurations we hold in Sydney: black Paloma leather on a matt black base, and brown upholstery on either a matt black or a polished aluminium base. The photograph on each variant is the chair you receive; the grey fabric chair in Flokk's photograph here shows the same 9031 in a fabric from Flokk's range, which is orderable.
Flokk also builds the 9021 without a headrest and the 9073 meeting chair, and other leathers, fabrics and base finishes are available to order. Most executive chairs are a task chair with a taller back and thicker padding. The Tribute runs HÅG inBalance®, the balanced tilt HÅG uses on the Capisco and the SoFi: the seat and back keep moving with you, forwards and backwards, rather than locking you into one posture, and the resistance is adjustable. The S-curved back follows your spine and the upper back moves forward as you recline, so the support stays where your body is. The rest is what you expect at this price: adjustable seat depth, lumbar by wheel, a headrest, and armrests that tilt down out of the way.
The variants listed here are the configurations we hold: black Paloma leather on a black base, and brown upholstery on either a matt black or a polished aluminium base. Flokk provides a ten-year guarantee against production defects on HÅG chairs in normal use for up to nine hours a day, conditional on a user weight of up to 110 kg; five years beyond nine hours a day; fabrics and leather five years. Normal wear, labour and transport are excluded. Chair Dinkum is the exclusive Australian distributor for the Flokk group, so a claim is assessed and handled by us in Sydney, not sent offshore. Flokk publishes no maximum user weight for the Tribute. The 110 kg figure that circulates for HÅG chairs is a condition of the ten-year guarantee, not a tested load rating. On certification, Flokk's Tribute factsheet lists EN 1335 Class A, BS 5459-2, ANSI BIFMA X5.1 and GS as pending approvals, and we have not found a later Flokk document confirming they have completed. The chair does carry an Environmental Product Declaration to ISO 14025 and a GREENGUARD certificate. If a rated user weight or EN 1335 evidence is a mandatory requirement in your tender, call 02 9640 0642 and we will get the current documentation from Flokk in writing before you submit.
Flokk's factsheet gives 41–52 cm on the 150 mm gas lift and 46–64 cm on the 200 mm lift, measured under a 64 kg load. Flokk's own webshop gives 38.7–52.5 cm for the same chair on the 150 mm lift. We have asked Flokk which is current and quote both until they answer. If the bottom of the range matters to you, sit in the chair first.
Sometimes. The HÅG SoFi Mesh has the same balanced-tilt principle from about $750 and does the ergonomic half of the job; what it does not have is the leather, the headrest, the Røros build or the presence in a boardroom.
