The C.ME is a post with arms clamped to it, which changes what you can do with a desk later: one screen today, two next quarter, three when the role changes, all on the same post and the same hole. On a floor where roles move around, that is the difference between re-specifying and re-configuring.

Thinking Works builds the C.ME in single, dual and triple configurations on the same post. A triple is a specialist thing — control rooms, dealing desks, video edit suites — but the point is that the post does not change, so a desk fitted with a single today can carry three later.
Each arm moves independently, so a dual or triple can be stepped rather than forced into one flat plane.

A laptop tray clamps to the post alongside the screens, which lifts a laptop to eye level and turns it into a second display rather than something the user hunches over. On a hot desk where people bring their own machine, it is usually the single most useful accessory on the arm.
