Most office chairs are built for one person and a working day. A control room chair is never empty: as one operator stands up, the next sits down, at three in the morning as at three in the afternoon, and every one of them is a different size. The RH Secur24 was developed for exactly that. Its tilting mechanism is a robust steel construction with a hardened steel block, built for continuous use rather than an eight-hour day, and the whole chair weighs 30 kg.
It is certified to BS 5459-2, the British standard written specifically for heavy-duty and 24-hour office seating, alongside EN 1335 and GS. In the control tower Flokk photographs it in, it is doing the same job it does in Australian control rooms, monitoring centres and dispatch desks.
Extra-Thick, Adjustable
Cushions and Support for the Long Haul
Sitting for a twelve-hour shift is a different problem from sitting for an hour. The Secur24's seat and back cushions are extra thick, the seat 11 cm thick, and ergonomically shaped so pressure is spread rather than concentrated. The 65 cm backrest has a large angle of inclination and a lumbar support that adjusts from 18 to 29 cm above the seat, operated from the side of the backrest, so the curve lands where your spine is.
Above it, the headrest adjusts for height and angle and supports the head and neck when you lean back to watch a bank of screens. Flokk recommends it; it is fitted as standard on the chairs we stock.

Controls on Both Sides
Every adjustment lever on the Secur24 is duplicated: seat height, seat depth, back angle and tilt are all reachable from the left and the right, so a left-handed operator is not fumbling under the seat for a lever on the wrong side at the end of a shift. The sliding seat sets depth for users of different heights, and the padded armrests flip up and away so you can get in and out of a console quickly.
The mechanism gives dynamic seating: the seat follows your position as you move rather than holding you fixed, which matters over hours in front of a screen.

A Heavy-Duty Mechanism
The tilting mechanism is a robust steel construction with a hardened steel block, developed for continuous use rather than an eight-hour day. The chair weighs 30.2 kg and is certified to EN 1335, GS and BS 5459-2, the British standard for heavy-duty and 24-hour seating.
Extra-Thick Cushions
The seat and back cushions are extra thick and ergonomically shaped so pressure is spread rather than concentrated, the seat 11 cm thick. It is the difference between sitting for an hour and sitting for a twelve-hour shift.
Ergonomic Back, Adjustable Lumbar
The 64.8 cm backrest has a large angle of inclination, 18°, and a lumbar support that adjusts from 18 to 29 cm above the seat from the side of the backrest, so the curve lands where your spine is.
Controls on Both Sides
Seat height, seat depth, back angle and tilt are duplicated on the left and the right, so a left-handed operator is not reaching for a lever on the wrong side. The padded armrests flip up and away to get in and out of a console.
Headrest and 24/7 Upholstery
The headrest adjusts for height and angle and supports the head and neck when you lean back to watch a bank of screens. Flokk covers upholstery under the 24/7 guarantee term only where it is an RH-approved 24/7 fabric.

The chairs we hold are configured as photographed: headrest, padded flip-up armrests, polished aluminium base and castors for hard floors; soft-floor castors, a coat hanger, a weapon recess in the back cushion, holster protection and hygienic or protective covers are options. Other RH-approved 24/7 fabrics and leathers are available to order.

A normal task chair is designed and guaranteed for one person, up to about nine hours a day. A control room chair is occupied around the clock by a succession of people of different sizes, so everything is heavier: the Secur24 has a steel-framed, hardened-steel tilting mechanism developed for continuous use, an 11 cm thick seat cushion, a 30 kg build and upholstery chosen for wear and cleaning. It is certified to BS 5459-2, the British standard written specifically for heavy-duty and 24-hour seating, as well as EN 1335 and GS. Both are the same chair. Trento is a black leather: easy to wipe down, and the choice where the chair is shared across shifts and cleaned often. Forever is a black fabric: warmer to sit on over a long shift and less prone to showing scuffs. Flokk provides a 5-year guarantee on RH chairs approved for control room 24/7 use, which includes the Secur24; upholstery is covered under that term only where it is an RH-approved 24/7 fabric. The 10-year RH term you may see quoted elsewhere is the standard-use term (up to 9 hours a day, users up to 150 kg), not the control room term.
