ISO 23351-1 is the standard worth comparing between brands because it measures the assembled pod — walls, door seals, glazing and the ventilation path together — with a speech source at the height of a real person's mouth. A bare dB number quoted without the standard and the class tells you very little.

The airflow figure that surprises people

The One Compact moves more air than the larger Framery One: 36 L/s against 26 L/s, into a smaller internal volume. That is the opposite of what most buyers assume when they compare a small booth with a bigger one.

The practical consequence is that if stuffiness is your worry — someone stepping into a pod for a forty-minute call and coming out with a headache — stepping up to the Framery One is not the fix, and paying $5,400 more for that reason would be a mistake. Buy the larger booth for interior width and the sit-stand desk, not for ventilation.

Who it suits

  1. Floors where every square metre is fought over. At 1.03 m² this is the lowest floor-area cost of privacy in the range, and 19 cm narrower than the Framery One.
  2. Corridors, alcoves and touchdown zones. A 103 cm width fits into leftover space that will not take a wider booth.
  3. High-turnover call use. People ducking in for ten or thirty minutes, taking a call, and leaving.
  4. Buildings with lower ceilings. At 235 cm it has the lowest minimum room height of the three models — 5 cm less than the Framery One. On a refurbished floor with services under the slab, that 5 cm decides whether a pod goes in at all.
  5. Buying several rather than one. Where the budget buys two Compacts or one Framery Four, two Compacts serve more people making calls.

Who it does not suit

  1. Anyone working inside it for hours. The Compact has a fold-out desk, not the sit-stand desk of the Framery One. For a call, that is fine. As a substitute for a desk, it is not, and staff will tell you so within a fortnight.
  2. Two people. This is a one-person booth. A second person standing in the doorway defeats the acoustic rating, because the rating is measured with the door shut.
  3. Seated video meetings around a display. There is no display mount and no table. If the use case is a screen-based meeting, look at the Framery Four.
  4. Rooms under 235 cm. There is no configuration that gets around the minimum room height. Measure before you order.
  5. Fit-outs that need Framery Smart connectivity. Smart connectivity is part of the specification we list for the Framery One. The Compact's listed fit-out is the fold-out desk, a power outlet and USB charging. If connectivity is a requirement rather than a nice-to-have, ask us before you settle on the Compact.
  6. Buyers who want the roomiest single-person booth. That is the Framery One, and the difference is felt immediately by anyone tall or broad-shouldered.

Site planning for the One Compact

Door swing. Allow clear space in front of the door on the plan. The temptation with the Compact is to tuck it into a nook because it fits — but the door still needs its arc, and the arc must not cross a pedestrian route, an accessible path, fire equipment or an exit.

Room height. The pod stands 225 cm and the minimum room height is 235 cm, so there is 10 cm of working clearance. Confirm it against a measured site dimension, not a reflected ceiling plan. Sprinkler heads, ducts and lighting tracks are rarely where the plan says they are, and the check that matters is the height at the pod's actual position.

Delivery route. The 103 cm width is the Compact's advantage on the way in as well as on the floor — it is the easiest pod in the range to get through a standard doorway and a small goods lift. Still measure the whole route before you order: dock, lift internal dimensions and door opening, doorway widths, corners and turning space, and any security or after-hours restriction.

Floor loading. This is a heavy object on a small footprint, and a smaller footprint concentrates load rather than reducing it. On a suspended slab or above a basement, get a structural opinion. That is a question for your engineer, not for us.

Placement. Put it near the people who need it. A pod pushed into a far corner because it tidied the floor plan is a pod nobody books.

Warranty — per component, and conditional

Framery's warranty is widely quoted as a flat five years. It is not. Cover is applied per component:

  1. 5 years — structure and standard parts
  2. 2 years — wear parts: gas lifts, levelling gliders, fabrics, felt, carpet, the door, door seals, hinges and locks
  3. 2 years — electronics: LED lighting, fans, power and USB chargers, wireless chargers, screens, motion sensors, motor-driven height adjustment
  4. 1 year — Framery Connect sensors

On a booth at this price the split matters more than it looks. The door, the door seals, the hinges and the fabrics carry two years, not five — and on a high-turnover call booth those are precisely the parts that get the most use.

Two conditions decide whether any cover exists at all. The warranty must be activated by completing Framery's installation report form, and the pod must be installed by a Framery-trained installer. If either is missed, Framery is not obliged to remedy defects. Defects must be notified within 21 days of discovery, and software is supplied without warranty.

This is the commercial reason to buy through an authorised dealer. Where we install, we complete the report and use Framery-trained installers, so cover is live from handover. Full terms are on our warranty page. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

New South Wales compliance

Building Commission NSW practice advice issued 24 January 2025 states that office pods are rooms rather than furniture, and that their installation is to be treated as building work. No other state has published equivalent advice. The advice specifically names the risk that a pod may attenuate the building's occupant warning system — a pod good enough for Class A speech privacy is also good at muffling an alarm, so expect that to be tested with the door shut. We supply the technical documentation your consultants need; the certification questions belong to your building surveyor or fire engineer.
