ISO 23351-1 measures the assembled pod — walls, door seals, glazing and the ventilation path together — with a speech source at the height of a real person's mouth. The Framery One is Class A, 30 DS,A dB, the same rating as the One Compact and the Framery Four. Acoustics are not what separates the three models, and any comparison that leans on a bare dB number without the standard and the class is not telling you much.

What the extra $5,400 over the One Compact actually buys

Three things, and ventilation is not one of them.

  1. 19 cm of extra width — 122 cm against 103 cm, a footprint of 1.22 m² against 1.03 m². It is the difference between a booth you step into for a call and one you can settle into.
  2. A sit-stand desk rather than the Compact's fold-out desk. This is the specification that decides whether the pod works for a two-hour block of focused work.
  3. LED lighting and Framery Smart connectivity as part of the standard fit-out.

The counter-intuitive part: the smaller One Compact moves more air than the Framery One — 36 L/s against 26 L/s — into a smaller internal volume. If someone on your team has told you to upgrade to the One because the Compact will feel stuffy, that reasoning is backwards. Specify the Framery One for width, the desk and connectivity, and specify it for those reasons only.

Who it suits

  1. People who work inside the pod, not just call from it. The sit-stand desk is the whole argument. Where staff need a focus room for a couple of hours at a time, this is the model.
  2. Floors where a booth is a bookable resource. Framery Smart connectivity supports treating the pod as a managed asset rather than a piece of furniture that happens to be there.
  3. Taller or broader users. The extra 19 cm of width is felt immediately, and it is the most common reason a client who trialled a Compact moves up.
  4. Mixed sitting and standing use. Long calls where people want to get out of the chair without leaving the pod.
  5. Buildings with generous floor-to-ceiling height, where the 240 cm minimum room height is not a live question.

Who it does not suit

  1. Rooms under 240 cm. This is the model's real constraint and the one most often discovered too late. The Framery One demands the tallest room in the range — 240 cm, against 238 cm for the Framery Four and 235 cm for the One Compact — even though at 225.5 cm it is not the tallest pod. If a refurbished floor with services under the slab gives you 236 cm, the Compact goes in and the Framery One does not.
  2. Floors where area is the binding constraint. At 1.22 m² it costs 0.19 m² more than the Compact per pod. Across six pods that is more than a square metre of lettable floor, and on a tight plan the Compact is the correct answer.
  3. Buyers chasing ventilation. At 26 L/s the Framery One moves less air than the Compact. If airflow is the specification you are optimising, this is not the model.
  4. Two people, or any meeting. One person. A second person in the doorway defeats the acoustic rating, which is measured with the door shut. For meetings, the Framery Four is the model.
  5. Video meetings around a display. There is no display mount and no meeting table. That is the Framery Four.
  6. Pure call-volume problems. If the brief is simply "our open plan is too loud for phone calls", the same budget buys more Compacts and serves more people. Buy the Framery One when the work happening inside justifies it.

Site planning for the Framery One

Room height comes first. Check 240 cm against a measured site dimension at the pod's intended position, not against a reflected ceiling plan. Sprinkler heads, ducts, lighting tracks and bulkheads are rarely where the plan says they are, and this model has the least headroom tolerance in the range at the specification level. Do this before anything else — it is the check that kills a position outright.

Door swing. Allow clear space in front of the door and keep the arc off pedestrian routes, accessible paths, fire equipment and exits. At 122 cm wide the pod also needs standing room beside the door for someone waiting.

Delivery route. Measure the whole route before you order: dock, goods lift internal dimensions and door opening, doorway widths, corners and turning space, and any security or after-hours restriction. The 122 cm width is 19 cm more than the Compact, which is usually the difference between comfortable and tight through a standard door opening or a lift car.

Power and connectivity. The pod draws 28 W in operation, but the practical planning question is where the outlet sits relative to the pod position, and what your IT team needs to provision for Framery Smart connectivity. Raise connectivity with IT at design stage, not at handover.

Floor loading. A heavy object on a 1.22 m² footprint. On a suspended slab or above a basement, get a structural opinion — that is a question for your engineer, not for us.

Placement. Near the people who need it. A pod pushed into a far corner because it tidied the floor plan is a pod nobody books.

Warranty — per component, and conditional

Framery's warranty is widely quoted as a flat five years. It is not. Cover is applied per component:

  1. 5 years — structure and standard parts
  2. 2 years — wear parts: gas lifts, levelling gliders, fabrics, felt, carpet, the door, door seals, hinges and locks
  3. 2 years — electronics: LED lighting, fans, power and USB chargers, wireless chargers, screens, motion sensors, motor-driven height adjustment
  4. 1 year — Framery Connect sensors

Read that against what you are actually buying with this model. The features that justify the step up from the Compact — the height-adjustable desk, the LED lighting, the chargers, and the sensors behind Framery Connect — sit in the two-year and one-year bands, not the five-year one. Height-adjustment hardware falls under wear parts if it is gas-lift based and under electronics if it is motor-driven; either way it is two years, not five. The five years covers the structure.

Two conditions decide whether any cover exists at all. The warranty must be activated by completing Framery's installation report form, and the pod must be installed by a Framery-trained installer. If either is missed, Framery is not obliged to remedy defects. Defects must be notified within 21 days of discovery, and software is supplied without warranty.

On a pod with this much electronics in it, that is not a technicality. Where we install, we complete the report and use Framery-trained installers, so cover is live from handover. Whoever you buy from, require the completed installation report as a handover deliverable alongside the O&M documentation. Full terms are on our warranty page. New South Wales compliance

Building Commission NSW practice advice issued 24 January 2025 states that office pods are rooms rather than furniture, and that their installation is to be treated as building work. No other state has published equivalent advice. The advice specifically names the risk that a pod may attenuate the building's occupant warning system — a pod good enough for Class A speech privacy is also good at muffling an alarm, so expect that to be tested with the door shut. We supply the technical documentation, dimensions, weights and power requirements your consultants need; the certification questions belong to your building surveyor or fire engineer.
