    Approvals and warranty

In New South Wales, Building Commission NSW practice advice of 24 January 2025 treats an office pod as a room, so installing one is building work; check with your certifier before you order. SoundBox's published warranty on the VRT series is one year on the structure and core components, glass excluded; claims are handled by Chair Dinkum in Sydney. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law for faulty or damaged goods are separate and are not limited by it.

How to choose a SoundBox pod

Start with what the pod is for. One person on calls: the VRT S (stool and fold-down desk, 1.0 m²) or the VRT SM (lounge chair, 1.1 m²). One person all day: the VRT M, with a full desk and task chair on 2.0 m². Meetings: the VRT ML for two to four, or the VRT L for up to six.

Then choose a glass back (VRT) or a solid back (VRT+), and one of five colours. Check the footprint against your floor plan and allow 2170 mm of ceiling height to stand a VRT up. If conversations don't need to be private, the Open Pod gives four people a table and power without a closed room.

    Reading acoustic ratings

ISO 23351-1 measures how much a pod reduces speech, as D(S,A) in decibels, and sorts results into five bands: A+, A, B, C and D. SoundBox publishes a Class A result for each VRT size. Other figures, such as NIC (ASTM E596-22) or a bare “sound insulation” number, are measured differently and can't be compared directly with D(S,A).

In New South Wales, Building Commission NSW practice advice of 24 January 2025 treats an office pod as a room, so installing one is building work. Check with your certifier before you order.

    Frequently asked questions

How long do SoundBox pods take?

Every SoundBox pod is made to order, with an 8-week lead time from order confirmation. We quote delivery and installation for your site.

What is the difference between VRT and VRT+?

The back. VRT has a glass back; VRT+ has a solid back with fluted panelling inside. Sizes, acoustics and features are otherwise the same.

    How private are they?

SoundBox tests each VRT size to ISO 23351-1 and reports Class A speech privacy, with D(S,A) from 30.2 to 31.0 dB depending on the size. The Open Pod is open-fronted and not acoustically rated; the Home Pods carry a sound-insulation figure without a named test standard.

    Do pods need building approval?

In New South Wales, Building Commission NSW practice advice of 24 January 2025 treats office pods as rooms, so installation is building work. Check with your building manager or certifier before you order.

What warranty comes with SoundBox pods?

SoundBox's published warranty on the VRT series is one year on the structure and core components, glass excluded. For the Open Pod and Home Pods we confirm the warranty with your quote. Claims are handled by Chair Dinkum in Sydney on 02 9640 0642. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law for faulty or damaged goods are separate and are not limited by it.
