Balanced, Not Locked
Most task chairs hold you in one position and let you recline from it. The SoFi does something different. HÅG inBalance® keeps the seat and back in a balanced relationship, so you tilt forward to type and back to think and the chair follows both ways: 20° of forward travel and 14° back from a neutral position 4° to the rear, which is more forward movement than anything else we stock.
Resistance is adjustable and the tilt can be locked, but most people never lock it. The point of the chair is that you keep moving without thinking about it.

The Lowest Seat We Stock
Two measurements decide whether a chair fits: how low the seat goes and how short the seat can be made. On the 165 mm lift the SoFi goes down to 39 cm, lower than any other conventional task chair in our range, and the seat slides in to a 38 cm depth. For shorter users that combination is usually the answer.
It scales the other way too. The 200 mm lift takes the seat to 64 cm, the back is a tall 47 cm-wide mesh, and a headrest can be fitted. One chair that fits a wide spread of a team is why it turns up in boardrooms and shared desks as often as at a single workstation.

Configuration
Arms, Headrest and Lifts
Choose the chair with or without armrests. The arms adjust for height and width and carry HÅG SlideBack™, which lets them slide rearward so the chair pulls right up to the desk. Three finishes are stocked: black, light grey mesh with silver metal parts, and light grey mesh with white metal parts.
Two gas lifts are available, 165 mm and 200 mm, and a headrest can be added as an option. Tell us your height and desk height when you order, or call 02 9640 0642, and we will set the right lift before it ships.

Made in Røros, With the Paperwork
The SoFi was designed by Frost Produkt and Powerdesign with Flokk's own design team, and every one is built at Flokk's HÅG factory in Røros, Norway. It carries a published Environmental Product Declaration, NEPD-4227-3468-EN, valid to December 2027, which declares 47.59% recycled content and a cradle-to-gate footprint of 62.38 kg CO₂e for the black recycled-plastic variant, and it is certified to EN 1335 Class A, GREENGUARD and the EU Ecolabel.

Figures are from Flokk's 2025 HÅG SoFi Collection factsheet for the 7500 mesh model; seat heights are measured under a 64 kg load, so an unloaded chair sits slightly higher. Armrest and headrest heights are from Flokk's October 2019 factsheet, which the 2025 sheet no longer prints. The carbon figures come from two Flokk documents with different scopes: the factsheet, and the EPD (NEPD-4227-3468-EN, valid to 30 December 2027) for the black recycled-plastic variant, which also declares 47.59% recycled content. Flokk publishes no maximum user weight for the SoFi; the 110 kg sometimes quoted is a condition of the guarantee, not a tested load rating.
Frequently Asked Questions
SlideBack™ is on the armrests, not the seat. The SoFi's armrests adjust for height and width, and SlideBack lets them slide rearward so you can pull the chair right up to a desk edge without the arms hitting it. Seat depth is a separate adjustment, 38 to 46 cm, and is standard on every SoFi Mesh with or without arms.
Shorter users: this is usually the chair. On the 165 mm lift the seat goes down to 39 cm, the lowest of any conventional task chair we stock, and with the seat slid fully in you get a 38 cm effective seat depth at that height. Taller users: the 200 mm lift takes the seat to 64 cm, and the headrest option adds support from 63 to 83.5 cm above the seat. Seat heights are measured under a 64 kg load, so an unloaded chair sits slightly higher. If you want to be sure, sit in one at our Pyrmont showroom; call 02 9640 0642 first so we have the right lift on the floor.
The armrests are height and width adjustable with SlideBack™, and they are the right choice for keyboard and mouse work at a fixed desk. The armless version is 6 kg lighter on Flokk's 2019 figures, suits sit-stand desks and anyone who moves between tasks, and is $200 less. The headrest is an optional extra rather than a variant on this page; ask us if you want one fitted.
The Tion is the lighter, simpler chair: it has the same inBalance movement but no seat depth adjustment, so it suits people of average build who want less to set up. The SoFi adds seat depth adjustment, a taller mesh back, a lower minimum seat height and more forward tilt, so it fits a wider range of bodies. The Capisco is a different idea altogether, a saddle seat for sit-stand desks and people who sit in many positions. At a conventional desk, the SoFi is the one to choose.
Flokk does not publish one for the SoFi. The 110 kg figure that circulates for HÅG chairs is a condition of the ten-year guarantee, not a tested load rating. If you need a certified user weight in writing for a tender or a specific user, ask us and we will request the test documentation from Flokk.
Flokk provides a ten-year guarantee against production defects on HÅG chairs in normal use for up to nine hours a day, and five years where use exceeds that. Fabrics and leather are covered for five years. Normal wear, labour and transport are excluded. This guarantee is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are not limited by it.
