Humanscale QuickStand

Sit-Stand Without a New Desk

The QuickStand clamps to the desk you already own and lifts the screens and keyboard together through 18 inches of travel.

5-Year Warranty, 24/7

Humanscale's published term for the QuickStand is 5 years, stated for 24/7 use, and Chair Dinkum handles any claim in Sydney.

Two Screens and a Large Platform

This configuration is the standard crossbar for two monitors on a 28 by 17 inch platform — the large one, for desks 30 to 36 inches deep.

Humanscale QuickStand, black

A Sit-Stand Desk Without the Desk

The QuickStand is Humanscale's desk-mounted sit-stand converter: a counterbalanced post that clamps to the back of an existing desk and carries the monitors and the keyboard platform together, so the whole working plane rises and falls as one. Humanscale publishes 18 inches (460 mm) of platform travel and a further 5 inches (127 mm) of independent monitor height adjustment.

It is the answer when the desks are fine and the budget will not stretch to replacing them, or when one person in a fixed-desk office needs to stand and the rest do not.

Why It Works

Screens and Keyboard Move Together

The reason the whole plane moves together matters more than it sounds. A converter that lifts only the screens leaves the keyboard at sitting height, so standing means reaching down and the shoulders pay for it. Raising both keeps the elbow angle right in either position, which is the entire point of standing at all.

Humanscale's capacity figures for this configuration: up to 35 lb in total, with the standard crossbar rated to two monitors of up to 15 lb each and 30 lb combined.

The Details

Five Things That Make It a QuickStand

The counterbalanced post, the platform travel, the crossbar, the desk fixing and the keyboard platform.

01

The Counterbalanced Post

No motor and no gas cylinder. You set the counterbalance once for the weight of your screens, then move the whole plane by hand.

This Listing

One configuration, black: SKU QSBC30NDD — QS QuickStand, B black, C standard crossbar for two screens, 30 the large platform at 28 inches (711 mm) wide by 17 inches (432 mm) deep. Humanscale states the large platform suits desks 30 to 36 inches (735 to 915 mm) deep; on a shallower desk the small platform is the one to have.

Two notes we would rather you heard from us. Humanscale's own SKU key documents desk-mount codes C, G, D and F and does not document the N in this code, so we cannot tell you from Humanscale's published material exactly which fixing ships with it — call 02 9640 0642 and we will confirm before you order. And Humanscale has discontinued the original QuickStand in favour of the QuickStand Eco; what we have is remaining stock.

Why We Stock It

Because the cheapest honest way to give someone a sit-stand desk is usually not to buy them a sit-stand desk. A converter costs a fraction of an electric desk, needs no power, and goes back off the desk when the person moves on — which suits leased floors and growing teams.

Humanscale's engineering is the reason we stock this one rather than a generic converter: a counterbalanced mechanism with no motor and no gas cylinder, and a 5-year warranty stated for 24/7 use. Since Humanscale has discontinued it, what is on the floor is what is left. Call 02 9640 0642 to check availability, or visit our Pyrmont showroom at 1/209 Harris Street to see what is on the floor.

All figures are Humanscale's own, from the QuickStand specification sheet (November 2016) linked above. Humanscale has discontinued the original QuickStand in favour of the QuickStand Eco and has removed the product page from its site, so the specification sheet is the current published source. Humanscale's SKU key documents desk-mount codes C, G, D and F and does not document the N in QSBC30NDD, so the supplied fixing is not confirmed from published material — ask us on 02 9640 0642. Warranty terms are on Humanscale's warranty page and our warranty page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Three checks. Depth: Humanscale states the large platform suits desks 30 to 36 inches (735 to 915 mm) deep — on a shallower desk the keyboard tray overhangs. Thickness: the fixing takes 13 to 70 mm at the back edge. Clearance: you need free space behind the desk for the post, so it will not suit a desk pushed hard against a wall with a skirting board.

Humanscale publishes up to 35 lb in total. This configuration has the standard crossbar, rated to two monitors of up to 15 lb each with a 30 lb combined limit. Two 27-inch office monitors are comfortably inside that; two large ultrawides are not.

No. This is the original QuickStand, which Humanscale has discontinued in favour of the QuickStand Eco. What we have is remaining stock. The Eco is a different product with its own specification; if you need something you can reorder in quantity later, tell us on 02 9640 0642 and we will talk you through the current range instead.

No. The lift is counterbalanced, so there is no motor, no cable to the wall and nothing to fail electrically. You set the counterbalance once for the weight of your screens and then move it by hand.

Humanscale publishes a 5-year, 24/7 warranty on this arm against defects in materials and workmanship in normal use. Claims come to Chair Dinkum on 02 9640 0642 and we lodge and manage them. Full terms are on Humanscale's site and our warranty page, and your Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition.

Yes — visit our Pyrmont showroom at 1/209 Harris Street to see what is on the floor, and we can put a screen on an arm so you can feel the movement before you commit to a floor's worth. Call 02 9640 0642 first so we can have the one you want set up.
